We’re seeking a Producer / Shooter to to support our dynamic production and operations team at NowThis. Your primary role will be acting as the in-house videographer and lighting specialist + managing relationships with freelance production personnel.. Your role will be instrumental in both studio and field productions, bringing technical expertise and creative vision to our dynamic content across originals series and special events. You will work closely with our editorial team to meet production visualization requests, design + scope, and scheduling needs, adapting as needed for efficiency of scale and ability. This role requires someone who can maintain professional relationships, pivot quickly to changing needs, and actively contribute to the success of our production operations. This is a bargaining unit position covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement with the Writers Guild of America, East.


The Producer / Shooter will be based in our New York City office and report to the Head of Production & Operations.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Collaborate with the Development and Editorial teams to deliver high-quality content across a variety of formats, including digital originals, impact-focused work, and sponsored editorial projects
  • Serve as videographer for assigned NowThis shoots, elevating our content through visual and audio storytelling
  • Serve as the primary equipment and studio reservations contact, overseeing the maintenance and enhancement of studio and gear technologies, scheduling sessions, troubleshooting and calling in maintenance issues when needed
  • Engage with the Development and Editorial teams in pre-production planning to visualize and align on production equipment and material needs, facilitating smooth content creation
  • Optimize production workflows and processes for increased capability and scalabilityManage recruitment, training, and supervision of camera and audio operators internally as well as externally, ensuring proficiency and readiness, and fostering a culture of innovation 
  • Stay ahead of industry trends, experimenting with new technologies and techniques to keep NowThis at the forefront of digital media production and vertical video

  • Fostering professional relationships with producers, vendors,and leadership, ensuring collaborative success across projects
  • Demonstrating flexibility and adaptability, taking on additional responsibilities as needed to meet production and team requirements
  • Maintaining a forward-thinking approach, ready to adapt quickly to changes in production needs or team dynamics


MUST HAVES:

  • 3+ years experience in vertical video production, including directing and camera operation, audio recording and lighting design - specifically working in vertical video
  • Proficient in Sony a7s series cameras and Rode Go microphones
  • Technical proficiency in the integration and operation of industry standard digital production technologies, including cloud-based collaboration tools


NICE TO HAVES:

  • Familiarity with Adobe Premiere & Photoshop

Compensation & Benefits

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $76k to $87k, with additional performance-based compensation. An employee's position within this range will be determined based on several factors, including but not limited to: relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
