General Statement of Duties
Performs a variety of maintenance duties at the Eugene Airport maintaining airfield, airport buildings, facilities, and/or grounds; may perform a variety of airport operations duties at the basic level.
Hourly Rate
$14.19 - $17.68 (Salary currently under negotiation)
Hours
Must be available to work days, swing, graveyard, and weekends as assigned.
Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following
Performs a variety of airfield and facility maintenance including airport pavement striping, airport snow / ice removal, building repair, and related maintenance activities.
May assist with non-electrical repairs to Access Control Systems including trouble shooting problems and malfunctions in the field and office.
Performs a variety of minor preventive maintenance and repair projects.
May assist with non-licensed plumbing and irrigation system repairs; perform a variety of winterization activities.
Performs minor concrete repair and asphalt maintenance; may conduct pavement condition rating and documentation.
Performs pipe and tile repair and open ditch maintenance.
Performs grounds and landscape maintenance duties and mowing including assisting with fertilizing and pruning plants; determines ground layout; purchases plants and materials.
Operates and cares for power tools and a variety of construction or snow removal equipment such as tractor with front end loader, mower and snow plow attachments, backhoe, deicer/flusher, and dump trucks.
Provides information and assistance to airport customers.
Maintains a variety of work records and reports.
Performs work outside in varying and extreme weather conditions while exposed to a variety of hazards.
May be required to lift heavy objects and equipment.
Actively supports and respects diversity in the workplace.

Qualifications
Performs other related duties as required.
Knowledge Of
Practices and procedures of assigned airport maintenance activities, or the ability to learn within a reasonable amount of time.
Facility and / or grounds maintenance duties in assigned areas.
Specialized equipment operations as applicable to area of assignment.
Equipment, tools, materials, and supplies used in area of assignment.
Applicable safety hazards and standard precautions.
Computer and applicable computer applications.
Ability To
Perform airport maintenance duties which may include facility, grounds, and airfield maintenance activities.
Follow applicable safety processes.
Operate specialized equipment and power tools as needed for the area of assignment.
Work independently, or as part of a crew.
Communicate effectively with employees, regulatory staff, airport tenants, and patrons.
Prepare written records and reports.
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Perform physical work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Provide and wear personal protective equipment.
BE AVAILABLE, AND RESPOND TO, EMERGENCY CALL-BACKS AS NECESSARY.
Respond calmly to emergency situations.
Exercise good judgment in a highly complex safety-critical environment.
SUCCESSFULLY PASS A TSA FINGERPRINT-BASED CRIMINAL HISTORY BACKGROUND CHECK.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation
One year of experience in grounds maintenance, or in a construction trade; experience in airport maintenance desirable.
License or Certificate
A valid Oregon driver’s license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire;
must pass driving records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City’s standard.
Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
Class B Commercial Drivers License or ability to obtain within six months of employment is desired.
Supplemental Information
In addition to the salary listed above, upon eligibility, the City will contribute the employee contribution of 6% and the employer contribution to a retirement program administered by the Oregon Public Employees' Retirement System (PERS).
Selection ProcessApplicants are screened based upon their relevant knowledge, abilities, skills, experience, and training. The selection process varies according to the position and can include such things as screening of supplemental questionnaires, written or skill tests, ability or fitness tests, interviews, and assessment processes. In addition, background investigations and records checks may be required. Some positions also require applicants to have a psychological evaluation and/or physical examination and a drug test prior to employment. The normal starting salary is the first step shown on the posting. Other placement in the salary range may be considered depending on qualifications and experience.
