Job Overview:

Hearst Magazines is seeking a Senior Video Producer for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen. This person is responsible for managing brand specific video projects and liaising brand needs with the centralized video team, which includes producers, shooters, editors, and motion designers. The Senior Video Producer will work alongside the central video leads, brand, Entertainment, development and partnership teams through the ideation, production, and post-production process while juggling multiple simultaneous projects. The ideal candidate will have a keen understanding of the digital landscape as well as a strong drive to create fresh, nuanced, and highly engaging video content. In addition to having a great eye and smart ideas, this person must be able to collaborate seamlessly to bring stories to life in video. Ideal candidates are extremely well versed in the video landscape online – with an understanding of what performs across platforms (TikTok, Reels, YouTube + YouTube Shorts, and more). Ideal candidates are also highly conceptual, have a strong vision for experimenting with formats and visual storytelling, and are masters of multi-tasking.

This role will report into the Director of East Coast Video.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

  • Pitch and produce engaging and on-brand video for Cosmopolitan and Seventeen across content verticals (YouTube, Instagram, Facebook), working with the editorial team to identify opportunities that will translate into compelling video storytelling
  • Brainstorm and develop innovative and shareable multi-platform series formats and creative concepts
  • Write log lines, treatments, beat sheets, shot lists and scripts for new and current programming
  • Manage all video-related logistics associated with video on cover shoots and similar features
  • Work closely with the Cosmo/Seventeen team to translate the editorial vision into video, while keeping video mandates and strategy at top of mind
  • Produce video content from conception through distribution (including curating pre-production documents, directing on set, working through post and working closely with social teams for distribution)
  • Book/hire freelancers as needed for various projects with PM
  • Manage post-production (give notes and feedback on various edits, GFX, etc.)
  • Implement best practices and style guides to ensure maximum performance
  • Manage budget with PM to maximize resources for creating new content

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 6-8 years creative production experience in genres like celebrity interviews, lifestyle, and unscripted - background in digital media is a must
  • Ability to produce internet-forward, highly engaging short & long form video
  • Creative thinker with a keen eye for visual storytelling
  • Strong understanding of production, both technical and creative
  • Deadline driven and results oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while meeting tight deadlines
  • Experience developing shows, writing treatments, and shooting pilots
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Management and interpersonal skills that inspire passion, dedication, and excellence from others

The base salary for this role is $83,000 - $90,000. The actual base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.

This position is based in the NYC office a minimum of 3 days a week.

This is a position covered under the Writers Guild of America, East, Collective Bargaining Agreement.
