Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU
Compensation Range: $17/hr - $19/hr commensurate with experience
Overview
The Housing Works Emergency & Transitional Housing Program (ETH) provides time limited transitional housing and support services to individuals reentering the community following periods of incarceration or other justice system involvement. Program participants engage in a variety of onsite services, including case management, vocational training, housing advocacy and mental health support that address barriers to accessing housing in the community and help build skills that participants can use to achieve and maintain stable functioning in the community. The Fresh Meadows ETH Program site is specifically designed to provide transitional housing for individuals with substance use, mental health diagnoses or chronic medical conditions. To address these higher level of care needs, this site offers onsite medical, behavioral health and psychiatric services.
The Residential Aid ensures the wellbeing and safety of the program's participants and staff during assigned shifts, engages in crisis intervention as needed and assists with maintaining the physical environment of the program site. The Residential Aid teams provides 24/7, 365 days of onsite services and operates in three shifts: 8:00am-4:00pm, 4:00pm - 12:00am and 12:00am-8:00am. This Residential Aid position is for the 8:00am - 4:00pm shift Tuesday through Saturday.
Primary
Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety, security and integrity of the physical environment and for the program staff and client community
- Conduct periodic facility walkthroughs and perimeter checks.
- Conduct wellness checks for program participants
- Conduct thorough room inspections and remove any non-allowable items.
- Perform light custodial work consisting of sanitizing work stations, cleaning of tables, chairs, minor spills, removal of trash, etc
- Assist with maintaining up-to-date, accurate program records such as census reporting, meal tracking and maintenance requests
- Collaborate with property management staff to report maintenance requests as needed.
- Engage in room turnover activities following participants' discharge from the program.
- Complete daily shift reports documenting client updates, incidents or other important information.
- Distribute meals to program participants and assist with properly unpacking and storing meals.
- Adhere to client confidentiality laws and regulations.
- Provide coaching sessions to program participants who do not adhere to the program rules or expectations.
- Participate in interdisciplinary team interventions as needed.
- Display Housing Works core values in all day-to-day activities.
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

- Arrive and depart timely for scheduled shifts.
