INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY DIRECTOR– GR.12
INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
FULL-TIME (38 HOURS PER WEEK)
PAY RANGE: $1,664.68 TO $2,237.19 PER WEEK
Professional, technical and administrative work planning, purchasing, installing, configuring and maintaining the Town’s information network, hardware and software; performs other related work, as required.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide strategic direction and oversight into the development and execution of IT initiatives that align with municipal goals.
- Manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective spending and resource allocation.
- Develop and implement IT policies, procedures, and standards to ensure compliance with best practices and municipal requirements.
- Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of the municipality’s IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, networks, and communication systems.
- Ensure the availability, reliability, and scalability of IT systems to support municipal services.
- Lead the planning, development, and execution of technology projects, ensuring projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Identify and recommend innovative technology solutions that can improve municipal operations, services, and citizen engagement.
- Ensure the protection of municipal data and systems by implementing cybersecurity measures, monitoring potential threats, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Oversee data management and ensure proper data governance, backup, and recovery protocols are in place.
- Work closely with other municipal departments to identify IT needs and provide solutions.
- Engage with external vendors, contractors, and technology partners to procure and manage technology services and products.
- Provide ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for IT-related issues across the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field; five years of experience in computer networking and administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Thorough knowledge of a variety of computer operating systems, hardware, software and network systems; knowledge of computer applications, particularly those for use in local government; knowledge of Wide Area Networking (WAN) and Local Area Networking (LAN); knowledge of routers, firewalls, servers; knowledge of current industry standards.
- Ability to install and troubleshoot software; ability to plan for future needs and assess priorities; ability to repair computers and systems; ability to provide training to employees on a wide variety of computer software and hardware; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing to provide training and assistance to employees; ability to develop and maintain a budget.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills; skill with computers and related software applications.
