Position Summary

Being a part of the Maintenance Crew means being a part of making every piece of the costumes look their best, keeping the world of the play alive on stage in the middle of the gorgeous red rocks of Padre Canyon.

As the Costume Maintenance Lead you'll be leading and collaborating with the rest of the Costume Maintenance team to keep all the costume elements maintained. Your responsibilities will include creating the wash/cleaning schedule paperwork and leading the Costume Maintenance team through their duties. Every day you'll engage in communication with the Wardrobe team, Wigs, Hair, and Makeup team, and costume department shops. You make sure that your team has the information and updates they need to complete their tasks as needed by the other run crews. You oversee the crew duties including basic care, inspection, and cleaning of garments, shoes, wigs, and craft pieces; and should be prepared to help with any of them if needed.

Required Skills

  • Google Suite
  • Paperwork creation and updating (wash schedule)
  • Laundry knowledge, including stain removal techniques
  • Steaming/pressing of garments
  • Basic sewing for garment repairs
  • Basic shoe repair
  • Shoe wear/tear inspecting
  • Basic knowledge of craft items repair
  • Basic wig repair
  • Basic wig cleaning
  • Basic wig styling and blocking
  • Leading a team
  • Ability to work with performers and staff in a positive and professional manner while on campus at all times
  • Ability to listen, take instruction, and to participate in a team to complete the assigned tasks
  • Clean and maintain all spaces daily
  • Ability to work outside in a desert climate

Required Qualifications

  • 3 years of professional Costume experience
  • Assistant or Lead experience
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs
  • Adhere to and promote all Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and maintain a safe work environment
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations required by the Actor's Equity Association (AEA) and the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (IATSE).

Bonus Qualifications

  • 7 years of professional Costume experience
