DEPARTMENT: eLearning, Center for the Enrichment of Learning and Teaching (CELT), College Assembly,
and the Council for Adjunct Faculty Development
REPORTS TO: Acting Assistant Dean, Academic Operations
Principal Responsibilities
- Provides primary secretarial support for the eLearning Department, Center for the Enrichment of Learning and Teaching (CELT), College Assembly, and the Council for Adjunct Faculty Development.
- Responsible for coordinating complex departmental projects from inception through completion.
- Provides primary secretarial support to the departments.
- Provides low-level support with basic Canvas questions via online chat, e-mail, phone, and walk-ins.
- Responsible for Administrators’ files, calendar, and correspondence.
- Prepares complex technical and/or statistical reports for the purpose of course level and program level assessment, student surveys, and data collection.
- Arranges, participates in, and implements meetings and conferences as directed.
- Participates in the training and motivation of work-study students.
- Provides students, employees, or department members with information and directs them to the appropriate resources.
- Operates office equipment.
- Maintains accurate files and records via manual or computerized systems.
- Orders office supplies and instructional/administrative materials as needed.
- Sorts and distributes mail within the departments.
- Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate to the position.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous work experience in an academic area/college/school setting
- Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
- Self-motivated with excellent analytical and organizational skills
- Accuracy and close attention to detail
- Strong communication skills necessary in order to deal with a multi-faceted office environment, students and the general public
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate degree
- Working knowledge of Colleague system
- Bi-lingual (English and Spanish)
- Previous experience in an academic setting
- Previous experience with a Learning Management System (LMS)
Supplemental Information
SCHEDULE: Monday - Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., 35 hours per week
RETIREMENT: Pension Eligible
Any Middlesex College employee hired after September 1, 2011 will have to meet the New Jersey residency law requirement.
