Summary
The Civil Foreman is responsible for leading field crews in the successful execution of civil construction projects, including excavation, grading, utility installation, and concrete construction. This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Civil Foreman must have a strong understanding of construction safety, project planning, and crew leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Crew Leadership: Lead and direct crews on various civil construction projects, ensuring high productivity and quality. Provide clear instructions and maintain a collaborative team environment.
- Project Management: Manage project schedules and budgets, identifying and resolving changes in conditions or scope. Provide input on scheduling and ensure alignment with project timelines.
- Drawing and Specification Review: Review drawings and specifications to plan work, create layouts, and ensure compliance with project requirements.
- Site Supervision: Supervise construction activities, including wet/dry utilities, concrete construction, asphalt paving, and grading. Oversee the safe and effective use of various types of heavy equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Promote and enforce job site safety practices, including trench and excavation safety. Conduct job site safety audits and adhere to all company safety programs and procedures.
- Material and Equipment Management: Order tools, equipment, and materials for projects. Monitor usage and ensure proper maintenance of all resources.
- Documentation: Perform daily timekeeping and prepare project daily reports. Maintain accurate records of work progress, safety incidents, and any project changes.
- Scope and Contract Management: Understand the contract scope and ensure work aligns with what has been contracted. Work with project management to resolve issues and provide cost feedback on changes.
- Travel and Flexibility: Must be able to travel throughout Southern California and work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime, as required.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in civil construction, with at least 5F years in a supervisory role.
- Competent in reading and interpreting civil drawings.
- Extensive experience with wet/dry utilities, concrete construction, asphalt paving, and grading.
- Strong understanding of construction safety, including trench and excavation safety.
- Production-oriented mindset with a focus on efficiency and quality.
- Proficient in basic computer applications, including project management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must have a clean driving record.
- Willingness to travel throughout Southern California.
Pay Transparency
The hourly rate for this position is based on the local I.B.E.W. union rates. Other benefits may apply. For those not already part of the I.B.E.W union we will facilitate joining.
