Position Summary:
The Long Line Thermoplastic Foreman is responsible for overseeing and leading a pavement marking crew specializing in long line thermoplastic applications. This role requires hands-on operation of thermoplastic striping equipment, crew leadership, and ensuring all work meets project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise Crew Operations: Lead and coordinate daily work activities for the thermoplastic pavement marking crew.
- Equipment Operation & Maintenance:
- Oversee daily start-up, loading, operation, and maintenance of long line thermoplastic striping equipment.
- Ensure proper heating and application of thermoplastic materials for durable markings.
- Marking Application:
- Drive and operate the long line striper to ensure accurate placement of markings.
- Perform pre-marking and layout to ensure correct alignment of markings before application.
- Data & Compliance Reporting:
- Accurately complete and submit Daily Data Logger Reports.
- Ensure compliance with MUTCD standards, DOT regulations, and safety protocols.
- Safety & Compliance:
- Maintain adherence to work zone traffic control protocols.
- Train and enforce PPE usage and best safety practices among crew members.
- Training & Crew Development:
- Mentor and train crew members on thermoplastic pavement marking techniques and equipment usage.
- Assist supervisors in various tasks and duties.
- Document daily activities and report findings.
- Immediately notifies supervisors of any emergency, worksite accidents, or other serious incidents
- Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines, including Wearing proper and necessary PPE at all times
- Assist with special projects or tasks as needed to support the overall organization's objectives
- Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of projects
Performance Expectations/KPIs:
- Efficiency in resource utilization (equipment, materials, manpower)
- Accuracy in setting up pavement markings
- Number of projects completed on time.
- Required Resource Availability: Percentage of times all required resources (materials, equipment) are available at the start of a task or project.
- Safety Incident Reporting accuracy
- The number of safety protocol breaches.
- Percentage of projects staying within budget.
- Feedback score from crew members and stakeholders.
- Timely and precise documentation of activities and findings.
- Percentage of equipment malfunctions promptly reported.
- Feedback from the supervisors regarding support and efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Minimum 2-3 years of pavement marking experience, specializing in long line thermoplastic striping.
- Equipment Knowledge: Strong understanding of thermoplastic application equipment operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Leadership Skills: Ability to supervise, train, and manage crews in a fast-paced environment.
- CDL (Preferred): Class B CDL or willingness to obtain.
- Technical Skills: Ability to read and interpret project plans, layout guides, and safety procedures.
- Work Conditions:
- Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs and standing for extended periods.
- Ability to work nights and weekends as needed for project completion.

- Must become an active Union member of the Laborers International Union of North America
Licenses or Certifications:
- Must possess a valid CDL drivers license and a driving record suitable for insurability.
- Worksite Traffic Supervisor (WTS) Certification Preferred
- CPR Certified Preferred
- First Aid Certification Preferred
- ATSSA Certification Preferred

- Physical requirements: sitting, standing, walking, bending, twisting, holding, climbing, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 50 + lbs., seeing and reading.
