Job Summary
Our pharmacy department is growing, and we are excited to offer a new opportunity for a Pharmacy Purchasing Technician to join our team. Under the direction of the Department Manager, the Pharmacy Purchasing Technician plays a key role in coordinating and maintaining the pharmacy's materials management program. This position supports the safe and cost-effective delivery of patient care by ensuring timely acquisition and inventory control of medications and supplies in compliance with regulatory requirements, including 340B program standards.
Core Responsibilities
• Create and manage cost-effective medication acquisition processes
• Ensure compliance with 340B purchasing and inventory programs
• Process invoices, assign coding, and compile monthly financial reports
• Select appropriate medications, place and track orders, manage price updates
• Determine and maintain inventory par levels
• Maintain inventory records and support annual physical inventory
• Process returns and secure credit for unused/expired merchandise
• Update inventory systems and maintain accurate computer records
• Perform duties at offsite locations as required
• Carry out additional responsibilities as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent, plus one year of post-secondary education
• 1–3 years of experience in a hospital pharmacy, preferably in pharmaceutical purchasing
Preferred Qualifications
• Pharmacy or general purchasing experience
