This position will be in direct support of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022. This Act increases healthcare spending by nearly $100 billion, mainly by extending the American Rescue Plan's temporarily-expanded Affordable Care Act (ACA) premium tax credits for an additional three years, through 2025. The bill will also allow Medicare to negotiate prescription drug prices, implement improvements to Medicare Part D including a benefit redesign and new manufacturer discount program, impose inflation rebates for Part B and Part D drugs, and other miscellaneous changes in Part B and Part D to improve the affordability of prescription drugs.
Workplace Flexibility at CMS: This position has a regular and recurring reporting requirement to the CMS office listed in this announcement; however, CMS offers flexible working arrangements and allows employees the opportunity to participate in telework combined with alternative work schedules at the manager's discretion. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process. Supervisory positions must report a minimum 2 times per week and non-Supervisory positions must report a minimum of 2 times per pay period.

Duties
- Perform drug policy analysis and research pharmaceutical industry pricing trends to give authoritative advice on drug benefit designs.
- Lead and/or conduct special studies or analyses of drug benefit policy issues and topics; research relevant background information, the origin of laws and policies, and their intended impact in order to make effective policy recommendations.
- Develop, monitor, and evaluate regulations, policies, procedures, and other guidelines for States in the design and implementation of their Medicaid prescription drug programs.
- Review and analyze current professional literature and insurance and provider industry experience to detect any trends that may have a significant impact on CMS programs
