Pay And Benefits

Annual Pay Range: $78,344.75 - $98,872.94

Hourly Pay Range: $37.665743 - $47.535066

Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

Generous Paid Time Off Package, Including

  • 12 hours of vacation accrued per month

If you answered “yes” to the questions above, please read on! We are searching for a Plumbing Inspector to join our team at the Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development. If selected for this position, you will be joining the Building Codes team responsible for administering the State of Oregon building, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and related codes, and Clackamas County ordinances and regulations.

As a Plumbing Inspector in the Building Codes Division, your main focus will be inspecting new or remodeled plumbing installations and determining the quality of work, use of proper materials and compliance with State of Oregon plumbing codes and County regulations, reviewing plans of proposed plumbing work for compliance with relevant codes and regulations, and partnering and conferring with engineers, architects, contractors, plumbers and other stakeholders regarding code requirements and inspection procedures. You will have an opportunity to use your expertise to interpret and explain applicable policies, statutes, ordinances, regulations and codes pertinent to the plumbing trade.

Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Oregon Inspector Certification (OIC)
  • Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code Inspector (PI) Certification
    • Note: Proof of possession of required certifications will be confirmed prior to the final offer of employment is extended to the selected candidate.
  • Knowledge of State of Oregon Plumbing Specialty Code and the plumbing sections of the Oregon Residential Specialty Code
  • Experience providing excellent customer service to the public as well as to other external and internal stakeholders within various levels of organization
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*

  • Knowledge of County permitting processes, codes, regulations, policies, and practices
  • Experience reviewing plans of proposed plumbing work for conformance to State codes and County regulations
  • Experience inspecting new or remodeled plumbing work
  • Experience completing and maintaining detailed and accurate compliance records

Pre-employment Requirements

  • Must pass a post-offer physical assessment; accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual bases in compliance with State and Federal legislation.

Post-employment Requirements Within One (1) Year Of Hire

  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within 1 year of hire, Medical Gas Plumbing Inspector (MGI) Certification

WORKING CONDITIONS

Duties are performed in a variety of conditions and settings including sedentary activities in an office and moderate to fairly strenuous activities in the field.

WORK SCHEDULE

This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

Please Note: This position is eligible for hybrid on-site/telework subject to the Clackamas County Teleworking Policy and based on the Department’s business needs. The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington. Washington residents must perform 50% of their time on-site at Clackamas County.
