Under supervision of the clinic leadership, guided by policies and procedures of the Ambulatory Services, and in collaboration with the Clinical Nursing Staff, the Hospital Assistant 2 assists in the delivery of care to patients in Medical Specialties ambulatory group practice.
Work includes a variety of personal care and clinical procedures including assuring positive care outcomes. He/She/They will perform assigned patient care and review of systems data collection in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practices. He/She/They will perform assigned patient care and laboratory procedures in support of the specialty care services provided to patients. He/She/They is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $29.63 - $36.99 (Hourly Rate).

The Allergy and Immunologic Clinic
Evaluates and treats patients with a variety of allergic conditions which include:
Asthma | Allergic rhinitis | Sinusitis | Rashes | Food allergy | Drug hypersensitivity |Bee sting allergy |
Immune deficiencies | Frequent infections |Inflammatory Diseases |
Complete skin testing and injection therapy for allergies
The UCSF Infectious Diseases Clinic
Evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of infectious diseases, with a focus on complex or unusual conditions. We often care for patients with infections of skin or other soft tissue, urinary tract infections, herpes virus with infection, mycobacterial infections of the lungs and skin, coccidioidomycosis, or valley fever, a type of fungal infection, fever of unknown cause, bone and joint infections, and OPAT (Outpatient Parenteral Antibiotic Therapy).
Required Qualifications
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification.
- Strong computer skills and use of Microsoft office
- Ability to prioritize work efficiently
- Excellent communication and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to use electronic medical records
- Must be able to multi-task and be flexible in work assignments
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 to 6 months experience in a medical specialty practice
- Familiar with authorizations and medications used for the management of common allergy, pulmonary, and infectious disease
- Bilingual preferred
License/Certification
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
