Under general supervision from food service manager, serves as lead worker, i.e., provides work direction, training and mentoring of lower-level bakers, cooks or other food service personnel in providing production baked goods. Established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.

  • Responsible for implementing production sheets.
  • Weighs and mixes ingredients for baked good; pans doughs and mixes; bakes shortbreads, pies, puddings, desserts; decorates cakes and rolls; cuts and wraps bread; portions baked goods; packs foodstuffs for storage or delivery to dining areas; orders food supplies; maintains systematized freezer inventory.
  • Cleans bakeshop equipment; maintains sanitation in bakeshop area.
  • Responsible for filling, checking and initialing of all orders for delivery to dining halls; checking and completing production sheets.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of large-scale baking techniques
  • Skill in the bakery equipment operation
  • Ability to understand a system of procedures
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply & divide whole numbers
  • Ability to read & write common vocabulary in sentence structure
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to demonstrate dexterity
  • 4 months experience as Baker 1
  • 24 months experience as baker in large-scale baking operation; (or 24 months training &/or experience in operation of bakery equipment baking techniques & associated sanitary standards); or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a test may be required.
  • May be exposed to hot ovens.
  • An established pattern of good work habits and performance with good interpersonal skills.

Department Culinary Services Pay Rate

Pay Range |06|: $21.43 - $24.18
