Job Summary

We are looking for someone that wants to be a part of the Cardiac Procedures Unit (CPU) at the Frankel Cardiovascular Center as a check-in/front lobby clerk. As check-in, you would assist patients by arriving them and giving them materials related to their procedure. This is a full-time position. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 5:30a-2p

Responsibilities*

Duties of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Scheduling inpatients for procedures in Michart/Optime
  • Supporting nursing staff and Physicians
  • Paging staff
  • Preparing patient charts
  • Providing a daily lunch count for patients
  • Order medical equipment for patients and nursing staff
  • Arranging patient transportation through MiChart
  • Answering phones and triaging calls
  • Check patients in for procedures
  • Arrange follow-up appointments
  • Cover vacations by working other shifts and areas


Required Qualifications*

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3-4 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of basic medical terminology.
  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling.
  • Familiarity with obtaining medical records or professional medical billing.
  • Financial counseling experience for healthcare patients.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to work well within a team setting.
  • Communicates effectively.
  • Demonstrates active listening, written, verbal and information technology skills.

  • Previous clerical experience


Work Schedule

The standard work schedule is: Mon -Fri 530a-2p

Background Screening

Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act.
