What You’ll Do At OhioMHAS
- Under direction of the Regional Psychiatric Hospital (RPH) Manager of Forensic Movement or designee; assists in monitoring the status of individuals who are presently waiting for an RPH bed on an emergency status or after an order from a court has been received by an RPH.
- Triage for any changes in acuity that could place inmate higher on the RPH waitlist, which includes physically visiting jails in the RPH catchment area to meet & engage inmates waiting for an RPH bed
- Screen for the following indicators: risk for violence, history of developmental disabilities, and any other special treatment needs.
- Identifies healthcare inequities and develops a proactive plan for discharge and assures that all information gathered is communicated to the receiving treatment team prior to admission.
- Works in collaboration with the Manager of Forensic Movement and/or the Director of Social
- Work, or designee to implement identified treatment intervention techniques & procedures
- Assess inmate’s progress towards competency restoration; which may include administration of a competency to stand trial screening tool; make recommendation to the Manager of Forensic Movement or designee, of changes to triage &/or ability to access competency restoration at a different level of care &/or a re-evaluation of competency to stand trial
This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of
11 on the
Ohio Health Care SEIU/1199 Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm. This position is located within
Heartland Behavioral Healthcare at
3000 Erie Street S., Massillon, OH 44646.
Requires current license as independent social worker (i.e., LISW) as issued by State of Ohio Counselor, Social Worker & Marriage & Family Therapist Board in accordance with ORC 4757.27. Pursuant to ORC 4757.41 (A)(5) any person engaging in social work or professional counseling as a civil service employee as defined in section 124.01 of the Revised Code who has at least two years of service as of July 10, 2014 is exempt from current licensure as independent social worker (i.e. LISW) requirement.
