Job Description


The Mechanic is responsible for diagnosis, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems in the plant. The maintenance personnel must be able to work in different environments, problem solve, and use tools and equipment appropriate for each job. Work will vary from day to day depending upon the needs of the plant to maintain production. The mechanic must be self-motivated, able to complete jobs in a timely manner and must be able to work productively with other employees.


Job Specifications


Minimum Education Required: High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

Minimum of 5 years of work experience as a mechanic.

The ability to diagnose mechanical problems and make repairs.

Knowledge of standard materials, tools and equipment, and skill in the use and care of tools.

All selected candidates will be required to pass a written, standardized mechanical test.

  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence required.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence required.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization required.
  • Ability to apply understand and carry out detailed written or oral instructions required.
  • Manual dexterity required to operate machinery and computers.
  • Ability to diagnose electrical problems and make repairs.
  • Knowledge of standard materials, tools and equipment, and skill in the use and care of tools preferred.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics preferred.
  • Ability to start on 2nd or 3rd shift is required. Must be willing to work all shifts, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.


Compensation and Benefits

The starting rate for this full-time, hourly position is $32.83. An individual’s base pay depends on a number of factors, such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. Total pay may include other forms of compensation, such as a performance-based bonus and other short- and long-term incentives. In addition, we offer competitive health, dental, 401(k), and wellness benefits beginning on one’s first day of employment. Additional Job Information


  • Typical work week is a mandatory Monday - Friday your scheduled 8 hr. shifts
  • There is opportunity for 12hr shifts as needed, this can be either 4hrs prior to the start of your shift or 4hrs past the end of your shift
  • We are union facility, we are with the UFCW local 75
  • With that, when discussing overtime, you may volunteer, however if we do not get enough volunteers, we may have to mandate based on seniority
  • Weekends are scheduled on an as need basis, you can volunteer, however if not enough volunteers are met, you may be mandates
  • Skilled Trades typically works 7 days a week, even if production is not running, that is the time for our skilled trades to get to the equipment for work
  • Starting pay for Mechanic C is 32.83/HR with .75 shift differential for anytime worked on 2nd or 3rd shift. (33.58 with shift diff)
  • As you learn and progress within your position you will move up pay grades
  • Additionally, with the union, we have negotiated annual raises built into our contract to account for cost of living increases. Increases are every year in March
  • If you work your standard Monday - Friday, we then pay out at time and a half on Saturday and Double time on Sunday
