The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey. These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary/retail operations.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Custodian for the Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).

Among the key duties of this position are the following

  • Performs a wide variety of routine custodial duties required to maintain buildings and grounds in a clean and habitable condition.
  • Performs basic maintenance and repair duties on University facilities and equipment.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • No experience required.
  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Reporting promptly on time before shift required.
  • Ability to read and write English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years' experience in custodial work.

Equipment Utilized

  • Power tools; hand tools, visual inspection equipment, custodial machinery, motorized equipment, computer systems applications.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Must have the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds as well as operation of all custodial machines and equipment.
  • May be required to work at times in inclement weather and considered to be essential personnel.

Special Conditions

  • Shift hours/Schedule: 2:30pm - 11:00pm
