Role Description

In the role of an Accounts Payable Specialist, your responsibilities include processing invoices and payments, reconciling vendor accounts, resolving discrepancies, and keeping accurate records. Additionally, you will support month-end closing procedures, reporting, and auditing activities. Collaboration with other accounting personnel, internal departments, and external vendors is key to promptly and precisely paying expenses.


Main Responsibilities

  • Keeping track of all payments and expenditures, purchase orders, invoices, statements, etc.
  • Reconciling processed work by verifying entries and comparing system reports to balances
  • Maintaining historical transaction records
  • Paying employees by verifying expense reports and preparing checks
  • Paying vendors by scheduling checks/ACH Payments and ensuring payment is received for outstanding credit; generally responding to all vendor inquiries.
  • Preparing analyses of accounts and producing monthly reports
  • Continuing to improve the payment process


Qualifications

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (Vista by Viewpoint, NetSuite)
  • Knowledge of accounting principles and practices
  • Ability to process invoices and payments accurately and timely
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills


Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field
  • At least 3 years of experience in accounts payable or general accounting
  • Knowledge of direct and indirect job costing and operating expenses
