Submits progress reports and other records during the year, as requested by the Director.
Notifies the Director, immediately, of personal difficulties related to children, parents and staff
Communicates and cooperates with the Director in implementing program changes
Prepares an environment that ensures that furnishings and materials are complete and developmentally appropriate for the age group of children in the classroom
Works with the assistant teacher to always ensure the safety and well-being of the children, make sure that children as never left unattended
Utilizes positive phrasing of directives for children
Works with individual and small groups of children and prepares circle time lessons
Sets aside time to give the assistant the opportunity to share observations and ask questions
Supervises the implementation of curriculum implementation
Supervises the assistant or substitute who deals with children in the group to ensure effective implementation of indoor and outdoor activities
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood education or related field of study approved the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene; Master degree preferred
Minimum two (2) years relevant experience of teaching in a pre-school program for you young children (ages 2- 5 years old)
Valid certification issued by the State Education Department
Knowledge of best practices in Early Childhood Education
Knowledge of classroom management and positive behavior guidance
Knowledge of developmental milestones and early Childhood Education Pedagogy
Knowledge of Health and Safety Practices and Guidelines
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - oral, written, and listening
Technology -savvy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Team, Zoom) ability to navigate diverse online assessment tools
