Description/Duties
Monitor and assist with the operation of the facility, programs and/or events. Implement procedures/practices related to the operation. Often responsible for opening and closing of facility before and after rental. Set up and tear down of tables, chairs, and/or equipment. Supervise rental groups. Ensure safety of patrons during operation of facility.
- Demonstrate good customer service in communicating with rental groups/patrons.
- Answer customer inquiries or direct to appropriate staff as necessary.
- Receive payment for admission or parking fees.
- Assist with and follow parking procedures as outlined by supervisor.
- Open cash station, prepare for the business day, oversee, balance, and prepare daily reports, count money, and secure station at the end of the business day.
- Enforce facility use rules and guidelines and park district policies, procedures, rules, and guidelines.
- May assist with the planning and implementation of programs and special events.
- Maintain proper inventory of all supplies and materials.
- Review facility schedule daily and set-up and take down as needed, clean, and maintain work area, appropriate equipment, and supplies for activities.
- Clean up of bodily fluids after any accident as needed.
- Be receptive to the directives of event leaders or renters.
- Conduct walk through inspections to ensure site safety and document deficiencies as required.
- May assist in the preparation and maintenance of reports and records regarding participants, programs, and services.
- May drive park district vehicles to transport equipment to sites.
- Wear assigned uniforms at all times while on duty.
- Perform routine, preventative, and corrective custodial maintenance of the assigned facility.
- Perform routine facility maintenance functions to include, but not limited to, general clean up, garbage removal, and window cleaning.
- Assist with equipment maintenance.
- Contact emergency personnel as needed.
- Attend pertinent departmental/park district meetings and in-house training sessions.
- Conduct self in accordance with the policies and procedures as established by the park district.
- Participate in park district safety and training program to ensure that work performed, and services provided are implemented in a safe manner.
Marginal Functions
- Assist staff in completion of work orders.
- Maintain reports relating to daily admissions and usage.
- May assist with other recreation programs and special events as needed.
- May assist staff and volunteers in the performance of their duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education
- High school graduation preferred.
Experience
- Part-time or seasonal work with a recreation agency preferred.
Knowledge
- General knowledge of recreation principles and philosophy.
- General knowledge of customer service, recreation, sports, and fitness.
- Equipment set-up and use for rentals and high-volume usage.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish desirable.
License / Certification
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- First Aid/CPR/AED certification required within one (1) year.
Hours
Mostly weekend hours; schedule may vary.
