The DNR is seeking to fill two (2) Customer Services Specialist Intermediate positions at our Central Office in St. Paul, MN.

This position exists to manage the relationship between the public, deputy registrars, other stakeholders, and the agency. This position will perform all phases of the title and registration operations and serves as the direct contact for DNR customers who are obtaining registrations and/or passes, or customers requesting general information.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Receive incoming telephone inquiries from deputy registrars, analyze the requests and take appropriate action to ensure agents can continue to operate.
  • Enter watercraft title information into the ELS system to ensure proof of ownership is determined and appropriate legal needs are met. Once complete, paperwork is to be scanned into Al Fresco System.
  • Enter recreational vehicle renewals into the ELS system to process payment for the customers to ensure they remain in compliance with current recreational vehicle laws.
  • Balance monies so that an accurate account of registration/title fees are maintained.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Knowledge of customer service practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer's needs, meet quality standards for services, and evaluate customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, listen to, and elicit information with tact and diplomacy.
  • Data entry skills sufficient to enter vehicle and customer information into electronic licensing system.
  • Math skills sufficient to balance daily sales transactions.
  • Word processing and keyboarding skills sufficient to construct, edit, and finalize written materials.
  • Writing skills sufficient to prepare written responses while communicating with internal and external customers.
  • Database management and record keeping skills sufficient to retrieve information, manage data, and generate reports.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in over-the-counter sales.
  • Experience managing confidential data processing registration applications and/or title documents.
  • Knowledge of state and federal recreational vehicle, license, and title laws as well as state rules and the ability to transmit that information accurately to clientele.
  • Knowledge of game and fish laws and rules.
  • Knowledge of state sales tax laws pertaining to recreational vehicle registration/titling, and registration and title fees.
  • Knowledge of departmental organization, policies, rules, and regulations governing natural resources.
  • Public relations skills sufficient to manage difficult and/or impatient clientele.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
