Pay Range: $22.81 to 25.96 per hour

Summary

The Shrewsbury Public Library is a vibrant community hub serving residents of all ages and backgrounds in Shrewsbury. Our 44,000 square foot facility nestled on 2.51 acres is a cornerstone of our town, open 6-7 days a week to accommodate varying community needs. We are seeking a dedicated Senior Building Custodian I to join our team. This full-time position plays a crucial role in maintaining and cleaning our library building, grounds, and children’s courtyard. The role also includes scheduled overtime shifts on Sundays as needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform daily cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure a clean and safe environment for library patrons and staff.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facilities and grounds to identify and address maintenance needs promptly.
  • Assist with setting up and cleaning up after library events and activities.
  • Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment, and ensure their proper storage and use.
  • Collaborate with other library staff to support operational needs and special projects as required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in custodial or maintenance work, preferably in a public or institutional setting.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy objects, bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer service orientation.
