This position is a full-time position scheduled to work based on the school calendar (approximately 10 months per year). Situational telework is possible and needs supervisor approval and an acknowledgement form completed and signed by the supervisor.
The purpose of this position is to provide administrative support services to a supervisor and/or director and the staff members in the department; maintaining calendars, databases, and files; completing paperwork and other forms as required; answering phones and scheduling meetings as needed; and other tasks as assigned.
Some but not all duties include:
- Provide assistance and direction in a variety of office tasks to ensure efficiency, communication and productivity in the department.
- *Update and utilize student information systems, other databases, and/or documentation systems with current information following direction from supervisors/directors.
- Set up and monitor calendars and schedules for directors/supervisors and/or department activities.
- Provide assistance to director/supervisor and staff members.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of business grammar with skills to write, prepare, and edit materials using punctuation, grammar and sentence structure.
- Knowledge of customer services practices and principles sufficient to identify each customer's needs, meet quality standards for services.
- Ability to use customer service skills on the phone, video phone, in-person, and in emails to provide effective general and specialized office support (this requires common courtesy, tact, problem solving, empathy and the ability to organize ideas logically).
- Skills in using specialized computer systems sufficient to accurately and effectively update data and run reports (examples are Microsoft office and excel).
- Knowledge of computer typing sufficient to perform skilled typing tasks with speed and accuracy.
- Knowledge of word processing sufficient to use software to create, format, edit, print and save a variety of documents, including spreadsheets, tables, charts, and graphs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of specialized terminology in education, special education, and related educational terms.
- Experience working in a school setting
- Advanced or higher level ASL skills.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds with assistance of equipment/other persons.
