Position Summary:

Under the supervision of the Director of Classification and Compensation, the Human Resources Recruitment Coordinator is the primary resource for all classified recruitments and will provide superior customer services to hiring managers and staff throughout the recruitment process. This includes all open competitive and promotional announcements issued by the Civil Service Commission. The selected candidate will be highly organized and will possess superior customer service and technical skills.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Provides a full range of administrative support for hiring managers and serves as the main point of contact for all inquiries related to classified recruitments.
  • Reviews, creates, and maintains job descriptions, postings, and advertisements and ensures equitable pay rates.
  • Identifies process efficiencies and opportunities for improving the applicant and hiring manager experience.
  • Enters and maintains the integrity of data in PMIS, Taleo, Oracle, RAPS and other applicable HRIS.
  • Reviews RAPS eligibility lists pertaining to vacant positions and inventory of actions. Dispositions and disposes of certifications.
  • Interprets Civil Service Commission, Title 4A of the NJ Administrative Code, union, federal, and state regulations to management and staff, provides guidance.
  • Performs recruitment functions through various social media platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed, etc.).
  • Participates in job fairs, explores and implements additional methods of social advertisements.
  • Assists with the new hire orientation process and presents at New Hire Orientation.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned to support the needs of the Human Resources office.

Required Qualifications:

Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree.

Experience: 2 years of professional experience in one or more of following areas: Classification, compensation, and recruitment administration.

Substitution: Applicants who do not possess the required education may substitute additional professional experience on a year-for-year basis with one year of such experience being equal to 30 semester hour credits. An associate's degree and two years of additional professional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree. A master's degree may be substituted for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior knowledge of state and federal employment and labor laws including NJ Civil Service Commission guidelines, including Title 4A of the New Jersey Administrative Code is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with recruitment administration, classification and compensation and state systems, including PMIS and RAPS is strongly preferred. Experience with handling highly sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service excellence, innovation and continuous improvement. Ability to effectively communicate clearly with the campus community.

  • Residency Requirement: In accordance with the New Jersey First Act P.L. 2011 c.70, effective September 1, 2011, new public employees in certain positions (faculty exempt) are required to obtain New Jersey residency within one (1) year of employment.
