Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the practice supervisor, guided by the policies and procedures of the Transplant Service, the Department of Surgery, and the Ambulatory Services the HAIII is responsible for all functions associated with supporting the transplant clinical areas, including liver, kidney, non-transplant surgery and lung transplant clinics. S/he consistently projects a professional and courteous demeanor; the HA III is required to comply with the Medical Center House and Telephone Standards.
In support of the lung transplant program, the incumbent will:
- Schedule new and follow-up appointments,
- Demonstrate competence with medication refills, maintaining standing lab orders and other duties as assigned under the direction of the clinician,
- Demonstrate understanding of the prior authorization process for post- transplant medications and procedures and will ensure all authorizations are in place prior to all appointments.
In support of the abdominal transplant program, the incumbent will:
- Staff the post liver, post kidney and non-transplant clinics,
- Perform routine duties in clinic, including vital signs, weight, and medication review,
- Work collaboratively with the clinical staff, including other MAs, LVNs, RNs, MDs, and AHPs.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.
Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
The salary range for this position is $32.86 - $41.01 (Hourly Rate).

Required Qualifications
- This position requires flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
- Medical Terminology
- Strong computer skills: Word, Excel, Outlook
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Successful completion of an approved MA program
- 1 or more years of relevant work experience in hospital/outpatient clinic or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing medical assistant functions in a busy clinic setting.
- Phlebotomy technician/skills
- Bi-Lingual preferred. Prior experience in a medical office environment strongly preferred.
- Cadence and Optime training
License/Certification
- Certification for an approved Medical Assistant program or equivalent combination of training and experience
- Current American Heart Association CPR Certification
