Summary:
The Network Operations Center (NOC) Analyst conducts operational functions and monitors the university’s campus-wide wired, wireless and voice networks to ensure a consistently stable communications environment for all students, faculty, and staff. The Analyst controls and monitors multiple different network servers, network hardware and software, as well as AC, UPS and Fire Suppression systems in the Data Center.

- Monitors the university’s campus-wide wired, wireless and voice networks to ensure a consistently stable communications environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
- Monitors and provide remote hands for different network servers, network hardware and software in the Data Center.
- Control and monitor Data Center environmental systems: AC, UPS and Fire Suppression systems.
- Provides first level computer hardware and software, telephone and cable television troubleshooting support for AU community via OIT Help Desk support during after hours, weekends and holidays.
- Experience with personal computer hardware, Microsoft Windows, MacOS, and software applications such as Microsoft Office, e-mail, etc. and proficiency with the Internet.
- Must have knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, routers and switches, wireless equipment, and network servers using operating systems such as Microsoft Windows and MacOS.
- Must have good oral and written communication skills.
- Provide tape library system remote hands ensuring it’s consistent operation.

Salary Range
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Part-Time.
- 24 hours per week.
- This position is considered to be an “essential employee” and will have to report to work during emergency closing periods.
- Due to the nature of the NOC function, the incumbent must be willing to work during evenings, weekends, and overnight hours including holidays.
- The incumbent must be able to lift materials up to 50 pounds and be willing to work in a noisy environment.
- The Network Operations Center (NOC) functions 24x7x365.
- This position requires work during evenings, weekends, and overnight hours.
- Leave blackout period: OIT staff are prohibited from taking non-emergency leave during the three-week period at the start of each semester, this includes the week before the start of the Fall and Spring term and the first two weeks of classes for the Fall and Spring term.
- Requests for support peak during these times and system availability is also critical, which requires all staff members to be working during these times.
Required Education And Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1-3 years of relevant experience.
Preferred Education And Experience
- Associate's degree or equivalent.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience
