About American Federation Of Musicians And Employers Pension Fund
The American Federation of Musicians and Employers' Pension Fund ("AFM-EPF") was established for the exclusive purpose of providing certain pension and related benefits to Covered Employees and their Beneficiaries under the Plan, and shall further provide the means for financing and maintaining the operation and administration of the Trust and the Plan in accordance with the Trust Agreement, the Plan, and applicable law.
Position Summary
Ensures pension claims are in compliance by examining records, reports and documentation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Audit receipt of all pension, re-retirement, and death benefit applications to ensure the applications are complete and required documents are acceptable.
- Audit all calculations ranging from Regular, Deferred, Re-Retirement, Re-determination, Adjustments, Disability, QDRO, Cola, 401(a)(17) and 415, RAB only, Cash-out, Age 70.5, Age 72, Overpayments, and Retroactive payments.
- Audit various letters e.g. missing documents, acknowledgement letter, pension application, Participant Choice of Benefit Option form, adjustment letters, income verification, miscellaneous letters, etc.
- Audit file to determine eligibility.
- Audit Pension Estimates.
- Audit and approve all terminations of benefit payments for deceased pensioners.
- Audit response to email inquiries.
- Assist analyst with calculation issues / processing inquires.
- Assist Managers / Director with various projects.
- Review Divorce decrees, property settlement agreements and QDRO’S.
- Calculate and pay all pension claims when needed.
- Create various excel spreadsheet reports.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in pension, defined benefits plans or other retirement accounting work required
- 2 – 4 years of professional experience
- Microsoft Office 365; Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills preferred
- Proficient in writing and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Audit experience required; Defined Benefit Multi-Employer Pension Fund, Taft-Hartley Plan or nonprofit experience a plus
- Benefits certification or CEBS designation a plus
The Pay Range For This Role Is
65,000 - 75,000 USD per year(Fund Office)
