Position Details:
This position supports NEA’s strategic objective to focus the energy and resources of its 3 million members toward the promotion of public education by coordinating Business IT projects and resources and ensures timely execution of the projects.
Position Summary: The essential functions of this position include coordinating Business IT projects, identifying and analyzing system requirements, defining project scope, requirements, and deliverables. The incumbent works with managers, project leads and staff in Center for Business Operations and other departments to develop detailed project plans and schedules, and to maintain those schedules as projects progress. The incumbent will work with the stakeholders to define scope, schedule, cost, resourcing, communication, project milestones, project activities, deliverables and risks. Additional responsibilities include: proactively manages details through project lifecycle, ensuring that deliverables are executed in a timely manner; compile project status reports and provide routine status updates to all stakeholders of the project on current and future project activities; monitor resource scheduling and availability across multiple projects, and recommend schedule adjustments to avoid conflicts. In addition, they will coordinate the identification, communication, mitigation and resolution of project issues, risks, decisions, and action items; lead and/or support change management activities for new or existing applications; oversee preparation of meeting agendas, meeting minutes and project status reports as needed; and lead and/or participate in meetings to elicit, clarify, and refine business requirements.

Qualifications: Minimum Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration or related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills may be obtained. Minimum Qualifications: Four or more years of Business IT project coordination experience related to enterprise management systems; Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Experience with Microsoft Project or other project management software. Strong understanding of system implementation methods, processes, standards, and tools. Other Requirements: Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication and presentation skills. Some travel required (up to 10 overnights per year).
Selection Criteria: Tier 1 (Essential): Proven experience with enterprise management systems. Proven project management skills. Proven effective problem management and leadership skills. Experience with Microsoft Project or other project management software. Proven effective interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, including developing and delivering presentations. Demonstrated flexibility and effectiveness in handling multiple and complex projects simultaneously under stringent timeframes and changing priorities/conditions. Successful references. Tier 2 (Significant): Proven ability to make good decisions quickly and provide alternate solutions in a timely manner. Experience collecting and synthesizing data. Demonstrated initiative in using technology to improve efficiency and effectiveness of work and office operations. Tier 3 (Desirable): Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Working knowledge of relevant Association policies, procedures and programs.
