Duties
What You May Be Doing: As a Student Trainee, you will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of tasks and projects. Some of the responsibilities you may undertake include: Assisting with researching, designing and writing digital content for public-facing digital services and platforms. Assisting internal customers with defining web content needs and ensuring content is consistent and clear. Assisting with content optimization strategy to increase website traffic and audience engagement. Assisting content strategist to build editorial calendars. Presenting findings for projects and assignments. Participating in team meetings and collaborating with colleagues. Liaising with other employees to resolve information or project requests. Compiling and analyzing information to develop reports, proposals, or documents. Maintaining accurate documentation and records for all assigned projects. Engaging with peers and team members to obtain knowledge needed to complete projects. Following all current standards utilized by your team. Complying with all agency privacy and data security policies and practices. Leveraging enterprise project management principles and concepts. Communicating clearly to a wide range of stakeholders through verbal and written means. Using analytical and problem-solving skills to organize and prioritize projects and tasks. Ensuring projects adhere to defined scope, budget, schedule, and other project boundaries. Tracking project progress and following up with accountable parties. Requiremennts
Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen or National Selective Service: Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service. Age: You must be at least 16 years of age Background Investigation: Must be suitable for Federal employment as determined by a background investigation. Graduation Status: Applicants that graduate prior to May 2025 will not be considered for this position unless you have been accepted into a follow-on degree or certificate program. Trial/Probationary Period: Selectee may have to complete a trial/probationary. This position is eligible for inclusion in the bargaining unit. The union that represents employees in this position is the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 32.
Qualifications
To qualify for the GS-7 grade level: You must meet one requirement below: A. Experience: One year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the GS-5 or 6 level (or equivalent) performing the following: Assisting in researching, designing, and writing digital content; and utilizing HTML and/or using Content Management Systems like Drupal. -OR- B. Education: Completion of one academic year of graduate level education; or bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. Superior Academic Achievement means you meet one of the following: upper one-third of the graduating class; or a GPA of 3.0 or higher out of 4.0, as recorded on an official transcript, or based on courses completed during final 2 years of curriculum; or a GPA of 3.5 or higher out of 4.0, based on average of required courses completed in major or required courses in major completed during the final 2 years of curriculum. The preferred degrees for this position are as follows: Communications Digital Communications Public and Media Relations Marketing Computer Science Information Design or Library Science English Information Technology To meet the Post-Secondary Intern Eligibility requirements, you must be currently enrolled in, or accepted for enrollment in and pursuing a baccalaureate or graduate degree on at least a part-time bases as determined by the academic institution. All education must be obtained at an accredited institution recognized by the U.S. Department of Education in order for it to be credited towards qualifications (particularly positions with a positive education requirement.) Therefore, applicants must report only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accredited institutions recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
