Qualifications

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.

To qualify at the GS-07 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-05 level in the private and/or federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: 1) Applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques; 2) Using initiative in carrying out recurring assignments independently without specific instructions; and 3) Making recommendations to improve procedures and processes.

OR

1 full year of graduate level education.

OR

An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education. The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

To qualify at the GS-09 level, your resume must clearly demonstrate that you have one full year of specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to at least the GS-07 level in the private and/or federal service. Examples of qualifying experience include the following types of tasks performed on a regular and recurring basis: 1) Reviewing program operations for compliance with laws and/or regulations; 2) Analyzing policies and guidance; and 3) Communicating program information orally and in writing.

OR

A master's or equivalent graduate degree or successful completion of two (2) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or a LL.B. or J.D., if related.

OR

An appropriate combination of specialized experience and education (only graduate education in excess of 18 semester hours may be used to qualify applicants for this grade level). The education must have been obtained in an accredited college or university and demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Additional information

This position is eligible for remote work in the states within the Mid-Atlantic Regional Office. States covered: Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, District of Columbia, or a state immediately bordering the region (Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, North Carolina, New York).

This position is being filled as a College Graduate under Public Law 115-232, 5 CFR 315.614.

  • Recent graduates who have completed a bachelor's or graduate degree within the previous two years.
  • Uniformed service members who have completed a bachelor's or graduate degree and were unable to apply within two years of obtaining their degree due to a uniformed service obligation of at least four years, may apply within two years of their discharge from uniformed service.
  • Veterans' preference does not apply due to the existence of the Hiring Authority for College Graduates for this position.
