Job Summary
The anticipated duration of this assignment is estimated to be 3 months.
Under supervision of the Practice Manager, guided by policies and procedures of the Pulmonary Division and Ambulatory Care, and in collaboration with the Clinical Staff, the Hospital Assistant II assists in the delivery of care to patients in the Sleep and Pulmonary Faculty practice. Work includes a variety of personal care and nursing procedures including Vital Signs, medication reconciliation and chief complaint review. S/he will perform assigned patient care in support of the specialty care services provided to patients within the practice. S/he is required to adhere to the Telephone and House Standards as adopted by the Medical Center. In addition to back office duties, this individual will be trained to coordinate all front desk activities including registering patients, scheduling appointment, answering phones, and assisting patients and providers as needed.

For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.

Department Description
UCSF's Temporary Employment Program (TEP) recruits and hires temporary employees for immediate clerical and technical support services to UCSF Departments and various off-campus locations. UCSF departments deploy temporary employees to work on special projects, fill in for regular employees who are on vacation or leave, or to temporarily fill a vacant position during recruitment. Frequently temporary employees become successful candidates for career and limited appointment positions.
Required Qualifications
- Certification from an approved Medical Assistant program; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Six months - One year’s experience as a Hospital Assistant.
- Knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
