Job Summary

The MRI Tech performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures and diagnostic radiology exams.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury.
  • Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination.
  • Prepares patients for MRI procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned.
  • Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed.
  • Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company-sponsored training programs.
  • Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
  • Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
  • Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • Completion of an accredited Radiology program required
  • ARRT MRI registered or registry required within 2 years of employment as a MRI technologist.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.

Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:

  • Current active status with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
  • Washington State Certification in Radiologic Technology
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
