Duties

The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia.This position is telework eligible per agency and business unit discretion/policy.

The individual selected for this position will...

  • You're committed to providing sound advice and guidance to managers and supervisors regarding training and education programs.
  • You like teaching others and are interested in developing and implementing to new training projects.
  • Serving as a project manager responsible for coordinating and evaluating a variety of training projects in support of the training programs and educational courses.
  • Responsible for planning and carrying out assignments; resolving most of the conflicts which arise; coordinating the work with others as necessary; and interpreting policy independently in terms of broad agency objectives.
  • Interacts with a large number of Patents organizations and officials as well as external stakeholders including program participants and interested organizations, the scope and diversity of training programs and educational courses.
  • Develops training project plans including determining scope, methods, resource requirements, schedules, and supporting analysis.

Qualifications

You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. You must meet all eligibility and qualifications requirements by the closing date of the job announcement. Specialized Experienceis experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the federal service. For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-12.

Specialized experience for this position includes: Oversees or manages the application of a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods; project management concepts, principles, techniques, and applications; and problem-solving strategies sufficient to conduct broad, complex studies. Serves as a project manager responsible for developing, coordinating and evaluating a variety of training projects in support of the training programs and educational courses.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

This is a Bargaining Unit position and represented by The National Treasury Employees Union, Chapter 243 (NTEU 243)
