SLR International Corporation is seeking a Project Scientist or Engineer with a minimum of three years of related work experience to join our busy Connecticut operations. The position will focus on multi-media permitting and compliance including air quality, waste, stormwater, wastewater, hazardous materials, environmental reporting, and health & safety. Preferable candidates have a strong relevant academic and employment background, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and a passion for EHS work. This full-time position is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic and growing international consulting organization. The candidate selected for this role must be self-motivated with a desire to foster client relationships through technical excellence. The selected candidate will be under the direct supervision of SLR Principal staff.

Job Description

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Environmental Science or related field
  • A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in EHS consulting
  • Multi-media environmental regulations including CAA, CWA, RCRA, CERCLA, EPCRA and/or TSCA, for example:
  • Air permitting and compliance
  • Hazardous waste management and compliance
  • SWPPP and SPCC plans
  • EHS Compliance audits/assessments or document reviews
  • Development and/or implementation of compliance programs, audits, or tools
  • Experience with project management, including scope and budget development and project implementation, within budget and timelines
  • Excellent written/verbal communication and organization/analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and on a team in a fast-paced consulting firm
  • Familiarity and experience working at industrial facilities
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Valid driver's license
  • Willing to travel by airplane and car, including overnight travel

Preferred Technical Skills and Experience

  • People and project management
  • Understanding of general industrial operations and equipment
  • Auditing experience
  • Skilled in preparing reports that demonstrate technical knowledge
  • Ability to take direction and willingness to ask questions
  • Advanced degree
  • Current OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training

Physical Demands

Key Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage projects that are routinely on-time and on-budget
  • Develop well-written proposals and deliverables to fulfill regulatory and/or client requirements relating to EHS media and topics
  • Review and understand federal, state, and local regulations and client programs for applicability determinations, compliance tasking and identifying compliance gaps
  • Work concurrently on multiple projects
  • Coordinate day-to-day tasks of direct reports
  • Work with clients from a variety of industries in various locations inside and outside of the United States
  • Travel to client facilities to support project efforts
  • Participate in internal, client, and agency meetings
  • Prepare proposals with Principal staff guidance

Compensation Range:

The salary range for this job in most geographic locations in the US is $70,000.00 to $90,000.00. Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, and geography.
