Under general direction of the Director of Production, the Production Manager is responsible for planning and leading all technical aspects for a wide range of shows and events held in the AT&T Performing Arts Center venues and ancillary spaces, as well as Center presented events off campus. This position participates at every stage of the process from evaluating an event’s logistics and financials, coordinating work across multiple production departments, generating clear communication to execute the event, to ensuring that the event runs successfully. Extensive collaboration with other organizational departments is essential. Leadership of production staff including the Technical Director, Assistant TD, Department Managers, Technical Coordinators and IA Crew Heads is required.

This position requires a detail-oriented, highly organized team player with excellent interpersonal skills that work seamlessly and efficiently with AT&T Performing Arts Center staff and with end-users of the facilities. Essential skills include the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism. Must be a self-starter and able to work seamlessly and efficiently with AT&T Performing Arts Center staff and with end users of the facilities. A positive attitude towards the position and the Center's Core Values is imperative.

Position Responsibilities

  • Work with a variety of organizational departments in planning for, fulfilling, and evaluating the outcomes of all events at the Center with an emphasis on efficiency, high quality standards, and fiscal responsibility.
  • Advance the technical aspects of events as assigned. Coordinate with producing tenants regarding local conditions, venue characteristics and available labor and equipment within the terms of their contract and budget.
  • Create all required preshow communications including cost projections, budgets, basic drawings, production schedules, detailed event notes, crew calls and purchase and rental orders.
  • Identify and implement processes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Production Department in order to optimize revenue and/or reduce expenses. Assist and be accountable for ensuring that all necessary technical, production and department information essential to the successful execution of each event has been accurately acquired and disseminated. Delegate duties and ensure that a task is understood, supervised and accomplished.
  • Act as the venue representative on site with decision making authority from load in through load out on assigned events, supporting the use of the venues by visiting companies, rental clients, third party vendors and crew.
  • Develop and maintain a positive, productive relationship with IATSE ensuring proper implementation and interpretation of the contract is maintained.
  • Provide feedback to the Operations Department and other superiors on daily operations.
  • Assist management in the development and implementations of Center policies and procedures.
  • Available to be contacted for assistance in case of emergencies as possible.
  • Attend continuing education as recommended by management and facilitate training of staff.
  • Participate in emergency management planning and emergency preparedness.
  • Complete and submit all required documentation including, but not limited to expense & settlement reports, incident and event reports for all Center events as assigned.
  • Report any unsafe working conditions or practices to management.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Performing Arts, Arts Management or equivalent experience.

Experience And Skills

  • Previous management experience of a production department in large scale theatrical operations with supervisory skills in a variety of disciplines. Excellent understanding of all aspects of live entertainment production and processes including theatre, dance, concerts, etc
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational abilities
  • Familiarity with implementation of union contracts
  • Comprehensive problem-solving skills in a dynamic, high pressure show environment.
  • Able to exhibit appropriate professional demeanor, considerable tact and courtesy when interacting with members of the public or clients
  • Skills in assessing customer needs and dedication to meeting quality standards for service.
  • Excellent communication skills between all areas of production, customers and the public.
  • Ability to cultivate a positive work environment through respectful and collaborative means
  • Schedule, workflow, budget, and time management abilities.
  • Ability to read, draw and interpret site diagrams, location maps, plots etc.
