Title: Temporary Security Monitor

Location: Chelsea High School

Reports To: Assistant Facilities Director/Principal /Assistant Principal

Hours: Monday - Friday from 8:00 - 2:30pm

Duration: 3-12 Months

Salary: $18.95

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of the Principal(s), the Security Monitor will assist in maintaining safety and good order in and around the school building by screening and validating all visitors to the building or area;
  • Reports all violations of security to local and school authorities;
  • Patrols buildings and grounds as assigned;
  • Operates two-way communication equipment;
  • Files appropriate reports to superiors.
  • S/he will set a good example in professional dress and speech;
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all information received and treat all students fairly as individuals while developing pride in the school.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Good personal characteristics including self-discipline, maturity, self-confidence, professionalism, dedication, responsiveness to supervision
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Ability to move about the building and perimeter
  • Experience working in a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic setting
  • Ability to work with students, teachers and the public
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Terms: All Security Monitors are members of the Cafeteria Workers and Security Monitors union (American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees - AFSCME). See contract: AFSCME Cafeteria Workers and Security Monitors Contract
