The Northland Learning Center is hiring for a special education paraprofessional for the 2024-2025 school year

General Summary

Special education paraprofessionals assist students with special needs under the direction of a licensed teacher. The special education paraprofessional assists the teacher in general daily classroom activities, helps special needs students, and cares for their physical, emotional health and safety, affirming their abilities, and striving to promote dignity in all relationships. Responsibilities may include assisting teachers to provide support to students in the areas of academic assistance, physical assistance, behavior monitoring, and data collection

Qualifications

Must have an AA/AS degree, 60+ college credits, or pass the ParaPro Test within 6 months of employment.

Duties And Responsibilities

Assisting students in achieving academic success. Working with students who may be aggressive or disruptive in class. Behavior support includes physical management and monitoring (training provided upon hire). Social integration. Consultation and collaboration with special education teachers and related service staff.

Salary

The salary for this position will be in accordance with the AFSCME Master Agreement Salary Schedule. $18.20-$21.39 based on experience.

Duty Days

Follows student calendar, last day of school May 30,2024. 28.75 hours a week (8:15-2:45pm), early out on Wednesdays (8:15am-1:45pm) and a half hour unpaid lunch.
