About The Job – Your Role
As a Prison Term Analyst your primary duties will be to calculate the on-time release date of adults in custody sentenced to the incarceration with the Department of Corrections, and to help facilitate the appropriate housing and program eligibility of adult in custody in preparation for their successful reentry into the community by complying with judgments and statutes. You will interpret and analyze basic and complex judgment orders using unit policies and procedures as a foundation for determining the courts intent regarding sentence and program eligibility accurately applying governing statutes, rules, policies, and procedures to confirm compliance.
You will research and calculate accurate release dates and analyze data to identify problems with calculations and use systematic fact-finding measures. There is considerable collaboration with various states, county, and federal agencies in acquiring and correcting information related to and affecting the adults in custody’s sentence computation. You will investigate and research criminal history to create timeline using various legal documents.
You will determine time served credit based on judgments, crime dates, sentencing dates, and actual crimes. You will run pre-release checks for possible warrants, review conduct compliance, and gather release information. This role communicates release information, approval, or changes to institutions and stakeholders. You will input and track detainers which can affect program eligibility, classification, and interstate agreements on detainer processes.
This position calculates time available for retractions upon request from hearings, modifies sentence calculations by applying, retracting, or restoring extra good time, statutory good time, and earned time credits, and explains both in writing and verbally, sentence calculation that may be complex and technical, and the laws and rules governing sentencing, to people of diverse education, language, and cultural backgrounds. You will respond to adult in custody’s letters, communications, and grievances. You will prepare and review technical letters for the signature of the Administrator, Assistant Director, or Director. Track all adults in custody while out-to-court for resentencing, follow up with disposition of court cases. Update detainers and/or adding additional sentences. Monitor Oregon Department of Corrections adults in custody incarcerated outside Oregon Department of Corrections facilities that have concurrent or consecutive Oregon Department of Corrections sentences and notify Transport with proper documentation when an adult in custody needs to be returned to Oregon Department of Corrections. Enter warrants as necessary and verify they have been returned to Oregon Department of Corrections custody.
The right person for this job is detail oriented, not intimidated to follow a thread through legal orders and records and has a strong sense of time management to track multiple priorities.
This position is represented by American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME). This position may be eligible for Police & Fire (P&F) benefits through Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), as defined by statute.
Minimum Qualifications
Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; OR
An associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience.

The salary range listed above is for non-PERS qualifying applicants. PERS qualifying applicants may be eligible for an adjusted range to reflect
an additional 6.95%.

The successful candidate for this position must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
