Job Summary

Customer service position responsible for meeting the highest standards of customer service in the Department of Radiology. Schedules Interventional Radiology clinics and procedures, and facilitates communications between patients, the public, payers, referring physicians and other health care providers seeking access to Michigan Medicine clinical and/or administrative personnel, or services.

Responsibilities*

SCHEDULING

  • Coordinate the scheduling of patient and physician appointments and referrals in MiChart.
  • Coordinate interventional procedures with other radiological studies and/or anesthesia.
  • Obtain outside films and labs prior to patient procedure.
  • Perform all other administrative duties related to the scheduling process.
  • Identify and track reoccurring scheduling/operational problems and participate in resolution.


COMMUNICATION

  • Communicate/collaborate with internal and external customers to ensure an integrated approach to service.
  • Proactively serve as a liaison between customers and internal Michigan Medicine personnel to ensure adequate response and customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Call and confirm patient appointments.
  • Answer incoming phone calls and triage to appropriate location.
  • Maintain accurate patient charting per departmental processes and policies.
  • Utilize paging system to contact appropriate staff as required.


PAPERWORK

  • Distribute patient appointment reminders when requested.
  • Demonstrate ability to complete multiple tasks independently.
  • Required to have knowledge and adhere to Michigan Medicine and Departmental policies and procedures.
  • Maintain security of all databases and confidential personnel and patient information.


Required Qualifications*

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 3-4 years of customer service experience.
  • Prior experience performing complex scheduling.
  • Familiarity with obtaining medical records or professional medical billing.
  • Must have demonstrated good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Excellent attendance record.
  • Adhere to high standards of teamwork by demonstrating adaptability, flexibility, and consistently sharing information and resources with others.
  • Ability to work independently in an ever-changing and potentially stressful environment.
  • Demonstrate dependability, initiative, ability to prioritize, and ability to accept direction.
  • Ability to spell correctly and use proper grammar. Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.


Desired Qualifications*

  • Working knowledge of MiChart.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology.
  • Experience in a health care environment.


Work Schedule

Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm, with the option for 4 10's after completing training. 40 hours per week.
