Job Description
Opportunity Awaits, Apply Today! – Payroll Analyst
As a Payroll Analyst, You Will Utilize Principles Of Accounting To Interpret And Analyze The Expenditure Processing, Based On The Oregon Accounting Manual (OAM), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) And Statewide Policies. This Essential Work Includes
- Paying employees correctly and timely by researching, interpreting, and applying established rules, policies, procedures, state and federal laws, and various union contracts.
- Assuring the accuracy of employee voluntary and mandated deductions.
- Providing guidance, direction and assistance to DAS and various customers regarding the appropriate payroll operations for compliance policies.
- Resolving errors, balances accounts, and ensures data integrity.
Please note these positions will require on-site training and upon completion you will have the opportunity to operate on a hybrid remote work schedule with 2 days a week on-site in the Salem office.

Minimum Qualifications
What We Are Looking For
- Two years of experience analyzing, calculating, recording, and maintaining routine financial information that must include accounting, financial or numerical data, or payroll processing; OR
- At least 96 quarter (64 semester) credit hours or an associate’s degree from an accredited college, university, or vocational technical school that includes 12 quarter (8 semester) hours in accounting, business, or finance; OR
- Possession of a Certified Payroll Professional’s (CPP) certificate; OR
- One year of experience analyzing, calculating, recording, and maintaining routine financial information that must include accounting, data, or payroll processing AND at least 44 quarter (29 semester) credit hours from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school that includes 8 quarter (5 semester) hours in accounting, business, or finance; OR
- One year of experience analyzing, calculating, recording, and maintaining routine financial information and must include accounting, data, or payroll processing AND possession of a payroll certification from an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical school.
Desired Attributes
- Excellent customer service and communication skills in supporting a diverse customer base.
- Proven ability to use a variety of software applications, including using Microsoft Office products, including Excel, Outlook, Teams, and Word.
- Track record of, and ability to remain current with a variety of software applications.
- Proven ability to define, interpret, and follow policy, auditing, and internal control practices.
- Experience working with an automated payroll system.
- Experience analyzing and verifying data for accuracy and completeness.
Preference Statement
- Preference may be given to individuals with expertise and experience in researching and auditing financial data and/or financial systems.
