Echo Technician: This 1.0FTE/Full-time position is scheduled to work 10-HR day shifts and is UFCW represented.

Compensation: Non-exempt, $39.82/HR-$62.45/HR

SIGN-ON BONUS: $15,000, *conditions apply.

Job Summary

Produces images of heart muscle and functioning by setting-up ultrasound equipment; attaching electrodes to chest and equipment; operating and adjusting equipment; recording cardiac data and measurements; protecting and helping patients and communicating with the cardiologist when needed.

Job Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares for examinations by checking equipment and inventorying and restocking supplies; reviewing patient schedules; reading physician orders for specific examinations; setting-up recording equipment; entering patient information into system.
  • Prepares patients by positioning patient; spreading gels; attaching electrodes to chest and equipment; adjusting equipment controls; verifying wave signals.
  • Obtains quality images by positioning and repositioning transducer; monitoring display screen; listening to signals; adjusting equipment for beam strength and focus; detecting artifacts that mimic abnormalities; recording images.
  • Records examination information by printing graphics and data; calculating measurements of heart wall, chamber size, and blood flow direction and velocity; comparing measurements to norms.
  • Protects patients by adhering to safety policies and protocols.
  • Have an understanding of and follow the HIPPAA standards.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.
  • Accomplishes organization goals by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education And Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • AA degree from associated Ultra sonographer or Echocardiography program

Required Licenses, Certifications And/or Registrations

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification.
  • Current active status with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Current Basic
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or within 180 days of hire.
  • Must obtain certification within two years of employment in this position by 1 or both of the following governing bodies:
  • Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) and the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).
