Job Summary
The MRI Tech perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures and diagnostic radiology exams.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Performs routine and advanced MRI procedures on designated portions of the body for use by physicians in the diagnosing and treating of patient illness and/or injury.
- Screens patient before exam for any precautions or contraindications pertaining to the examination.
- Prepares patients for MRI procedures that will be performed, explaining the procedure and positioning patients so that the parts of the body can be appropriately scanned.
- Adjusts scan parameters correctly and as needed.
- Maintains technical competency through continued education and participation in company-sponsored training programs.
- Performs equipment quality checks and troubleshoots problems. Calls for service and notifies all pertinent team members.
- Under guidance and approval of site Radiologist, administers contrast agents according to site-specific protocols.
- Develops and maintains professional and clinical skills. Completes all annual competency and education requirements within established parameters and timeframes. Participates in staff meetings, patient care meetings, educational in-services and other professional activities. Maintains awareness of policies and procedures and performance standards.
- Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Required Education And Experience
- Completion of an accredited Radiology program required
- ARRT MRI registered or registry required within 2 years of employment as a MRI technologist.
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist.
Required Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations:
- Current active status with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
- Washington State Certification in Radiologic Technology
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
