Term-Seasonal Position:
As part of the Vegetation Maintenance Team, the Equipment Operator will effectively control non-compatible vegetation along NB Power's transmission rights of way to ensure reliability of the system and to meet all regulatory requirements for vegetation maintenance, while also lowering risk of wildfires caused by tree and powerline contact. The Equipment Operator will operator various brush cutting equipment to help execute NB Power Transmission's annual vegetation maintenance program.
Key Functions Include:
Operate and maintain an excavator equipped with a brush-cutting head and occasionally operating an excavator bucket and other equipment, such as a Hydro ax or Morooka-type vehicle.
Perform routine inspection and minor repairs on equipment and assist with labour related duties when not operating equipment.
Load, provide guidance and/or assist in the loading, transporting, and unloading of equipment being moved in compliance with federal and provincial regulations, ensuring that the associated documentation is complete and accurate.
Our Ideal Teammate Will Have:
A High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid class 5 driver's license
Three Years Of Experience Operating The Following Equipment:
- Excavator
- Crawler and/or Carrier (such as Morooka)
- Hydro-Ax
- Bulldozer experience would be an asset
Casual Position:
As part of the Dispatch team, the Equipment Operator is accountable for the safe and efficient operation, inspection and maintenance and operation of heavy equipment as well as the transportation of materials and equipment in compliance with federal and provincial
regulations. Work also includes the pickup and delivery of materials and equipment for other work groups.
Key Functions Include:
Operate booms trucks, off road Crains, pole loader, tractors with blade and winch or other attachments, excavators, tractor-trailer units, highway or off-road diggers and carriers, brush cutting equipment, truck or track mounted air compressors, and portable gasoline engines for the construction of distribution and transmission lines in both energized and de-energized environments.
Load, provide guidance and/or assist in the loading, transporting, and unloading of equipment and materials being moved in compliance with federal and provincial regulations as well as ensure associated documentation is complete and accurate.
Perform routine inspections, minor repairs, and service of the equipment as necessary and maintain the vehicle logbook for all vehicles operated. Assist others with labour related duties when not operating equipment.
Our Ideal Teammate Will Have:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Valid Class 1E driver's license with Airbrake Endorsement AND No Restrictions
Three Years Of Experience Operating With Following:
- Excavator
- Bulldozer
- Morooka
- Boom truck experience would be an asset
An equivalent combination of training and experience may be considered. Subject to competition response, the minimum qualifications may be modified.
An Eligibility List generated from this competition may be used to fill future vacancies at the same level within a period of up to 12 months.
