Deputy Director, Insurance Programs
Reports to the Vice President, Program Management
Responsibilities
- Responsible for all aspects of managing insurance programs, including serving as primary liaison between Union Privilege and the program administrators for operational issues. Responsible for service quality, reporting, and working with the marketing department on program collateral and promotion. Responsible for review and analyses of competitive product pricing and features.
- Responsible for assisting in all aspects of the implementation of insurance programs and changes to current programs including any RFP process and contract negotiation.
- Responsible for securing required corporate licensing for Union Privilege to operate as an insurance agency; renewing licenses as necessary to ensure that all licenses are current.
- Responsible for maintaining active and current personal insurance licenses – property & casualty and life & health – including completing all required continuing education credits.
- Responsible for monitoring the Union Plus insurance agency’s adherence to all contracts; maintaining all current insurance policy files.
- Responsible for budget management of the Union Plus insurance agency, including commission accounting and expenses.
- Responsible for participation on the Insurance Team.
- Responsible for acting as liaison between the Insurance Trustees and the Union Plus insurance agency including, training new trustees, providing and analyzing timely reports of insurance data, taking official minutes of Trust meetings, and ensuring ERISA requirements are fulfilled.
- Responsible for interfacing with vendors on behalf of the Member Advocate as deemed necessary. Keep abreast of complaints for programs, including turn-around time and resolution.
- Responsible for assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of UP’s compliance/risk management policies as well as assisting with responding to partner compliance assessments
- Responsible for other duties as assigned
Position Qualifications
- 4-year college degree, preferably in business or finance
- Minimum of 5-7 years experience in the insurance industry; experience with risk management/compliance a plus
- Current Life & Health and Property & Casualty agent licenses
- Thorough knowledge of the insurance industry and state licensing process
- Thorough knowledge of insurance industry operations and customer service, including underwriting, billing, claims, and reporting
- Experience with affinity programs/relationships
- Demonstrated ability to analyze program and/or product financials and data and recommend appropriate action
- Demonstrated ability to conduct a comparative analysis of products and businesses using industry resources
- Ability to analyze marketing reports and project sales
- Demonstrated ability to draft business proposals (RFPs) and contract language
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong and productive relationships with partners
- Ability to achieve program and product goals through negotiation and persuasion using industry knowledge and interpersonal skills
- Experience managing complex projects
- Incredible attention to detail
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
