Duties
Serves as one of the IT Specialist/System Administrator technical authorities and subject matter experts for DOI IT business processes.
Evaluates the technical and functional impact of the introduction of new products and techniques and advises on their supportability and capabilities.
Leads DOI deployment of technology and standard operating procedures for a variety of IT systems.
Promotes integration of multiple IT disciplines into systems administration operations; translates strategic plans and technical guidance into objectives, strategies, and architectural guidance for IT systems.
Serves as a resource for IT specialists throughout DOI, providing recommendations for ensuring migration strategies, and anticipates software and systems upgrades likely to emerge during the life cycle.
Regularly leads implementation teams researching and developing recommendations for major modifications to established operations to improve efficiency or operational performance.
Generates and runs simulation models for future applications, evaluating and verifying impacts on the current and planned enterprise IT architecture.

Qualifications
In addition to the specialized experience listed below, individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.

- Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
- Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
- Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
Specialized Experience: Applicants must possess at least one year of specialized experience that is equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the GS-13 level in the Federal service. Specialized experience is that which has equipped the applicant with the competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. Examples of specialized experience for this position include experience researching, planning, and developing design and implementation guidelines and standards for transition and integration of cloud technologies with existing infrastructure services; providing expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management and other technical specialists on critical IT issues involving multiple IT and cloud technologies; applying cloud based design principles such as Software as a Service (SaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) or Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) for enterprise systems and services; providing architectural recommendations and systems administration support for Active Directory such as root services administration, advanced troubleshooting, installation, and resolving directory related issues; and evaluating workloads and developing or enhancing cloud support capabilities to meet changing business requirements.

Experience administering Microsoft Azure to include core Azure services, Azure workloads, security, and governance.
