Position Highlights:

  • $19.04-$27.97/hour DOE with the ability to go higher for highly experienced candidates
  • $5,000.00 Hiring/Retention Bonus Structure:
    • At Hire: $1,500.00
    • At 90-Days (3 months): $1,500.00
    • At 180-Days (6 months): $2,000.00
    • Bonus will be pro-rated based on full-time equivalency (FTE)
  • Extended-hours clinic, Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m
  • Requires floating to other clinics within the region if needed and occasional Saturday shift or holiday at Sunnyside Immediate Care clinic.

As a Medical Assistant in Behavioral Health, your tasks include:

  • Maintains patient medical records, updating patient medical history, current status including vital signs, medical treatments and medication provided. Reviews and updates patient immunization records.
  • Prepares for patient visits. Reviews the patient file, including requests for labs, referrals and correspondence. Verifies and ensures necessary reports are present. Provides updates to Provider team as needed.
  • BHC MA confirms that essential questionnaires i.e. SBIRT etc. are completed for patient.
  • Facilitates clinic flow of warm handoffs, including rooming of patients as needed and be available by secure chat throughout day.
  • Communicate with MAs regarding patient wait times.
  • Communicate with BHCs regarding assignment of patients to clinician.
  • Support BHCs with clinic resources and communicating with staff.
  • Maintain patient list/ BHC messages though in basket.
  • BHC MA will handle all aspects of BHC provider schedule, make phone calls as needed to schedule appointments, return phone calls to patients and/or send letters to patients as instructed. Assist BHC with video/telehealth visits as scheduled.
  • Reviews all provider schedules for clinic and mark potential patients for BHC in advance of appointment with PCP.
  • BHC MA is responsible for administering age-appropriate patient screeners per protocol; including but not limited to PHQ-9, GAD7, PHQ-A, PSC, Edinburg, AUDIT, DAST, and CRAFFT.
  • BHC MA will perform outreach to high-risk patients.
  • Interpret for the Behavioral Health Consultant (BHC) as needed or set up interpreter.
  • Performs clinical responsibilities in alignment with The Joint Commission (TJC), Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), and YVFWC requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum high school diploma or GED
  • Completion of an accredited medical assisting program (one-year certificate/diploma or two-year Associate Degree) from CAAHEP or ABHES, with a minimum of 720 training hours, including at least 160-hour clinical externship.
  • One year’s experience as a CMA is preferred
  • CPR certification within 90 days of hire
  • Must have Medical Assistant Certification or Medical Assistant interim certification from the WA State Department of Health
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required at a level 10 to receive differential pay
  • Medical knowledge for understanding theories, reasons, and technical aspects of medicine
  • Strong people skills to handle diverse personalities, backgrounds, and situations
  • Excellent multitasking ability to manage varied workloads
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Epic, and EMR
