Salado Isolation Mining Contractors (SIMCO), an LLC of Bechtel, managing and operating contractor of the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) is currently seeking a qualified individual to serve as a Hoist Operator to join our team located in Carlsbad, NM.

The Hoist Operator will be expected to train and qualify to operate the hoisting systems (a friction hoist and a drum hoist). Must qualify as a shaft tender, forklift operator, surface haul truck operator and must be able to become respirator qualified. Will qualify as an incidental rigger to perform complex rigging operations. Will be required to follow all WIPP site safety procedures, regulations, and policies as well as successfully complete site training, including site access, underground access, Conduct of Operations, and radiological courses of instruction. Will qualify as a lockout/tagout technician or authorizing supervisor.

This is a USW Bargaining Unit Position

Minimum Requirements: These requirements must be met to be considered for this posting. Uploaded resumes and completed applications are the means of determination.

  • High School Graduate or Equivalency.
  • Two (2) years working shafts or combined experience working around shafts and operating cranes is required.

Must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

Filled with SIMCO USW membership first, according to CBA, before other candidate considerations.

Pay Rate is $40.96 per hour.
