Housing Works fights for funding and legislation to ensure that all people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention, and treatment, among other lifesaving services.

Benefits

Staff begins accruing PTO immediately for a total of up to 30 days earned in the first year. We offer employees an educational benefit. This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU

Compensation: $17/hr

Overview

The Residential Aide (RA) ensures the safety, security, and order for the daily operations of the residence during his/her shift. The RA provides crisis intervention as needed to maintain residential and facility security. The RA's are responsible for 24-hour coverage and work in shifts of 8am-4pm, 4pm-12am, 12am-8am. The schedules operates 7 days a week, and all holidays as needed. The RA oversees the adherence to the facility's operating policies and procedures, fire safety guidelines and the Residential Code of Conduct (RCC) or House Rules that govern the facilities. The RA works with clinical and program staff, on the health and wellness of residents.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety security and integrity of all residents and guests, and the facility's physical environment.
  • Conduct hourly facility walk-throughs during a shift.
  • Assist in monthly fire drills, and ensure all residents are out of the facility safety.
  • Answer the phone and direct callers to the appropriate person.
  • Assist residents with social functions (BBQ's & fashion shows), while maintaining and enforcing the RCC.
  • Maintain the post of the front desk, unless instructed by your supervisor.
  • Attending all trainings and meetings directed by your supervisor.
  • Prepared, willing and able to provide coverage of shift when called upon.
  • Accepting and fulfilling shifts scheduled.
  • Learning & understanding the rules, policies & protocols.
  • Not being late or absent without contacting your direct supervisor.
  • When on call/as needed (per diem). the rejection of 3 shifts coverages in a row, will result in falling to the bottom of the rotation.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Provide excellent customer service and confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicate with the clinical staff on resident behavior and the care of those on the watch list. RA staff must enforce the Residential Code of Conduct and/or House Rules at all times.
  • Maintain the integrity of the log books for guests and packages. Sign in/out all guests and staff members as well as packages.
  • Monitor the security cameras and fire panel frequently during shift.
  • Light custodial work consisting of cleaning tables, chairs, minor spills, dumping trash. Shoveling of snow and spreading of ice melt on the sidewalks.
  • Complete all administrative paperwork as it relates to completing incident reports, shift reports and work orders.
  • All new hires must have their S-95 certification or obtain this license within 90 days of their first day of employment.
