Benefits

This position is included in a bargaining unit of Housing Works’ New York City employees represented by a labor union known as the Retail Wholesale and Department Store Union (“RWDSU”). Accordingly, the RWDSU has the exclusive right to bargain over the terms and conditions of employment related to this position and this position may become covered by the terms of a collective bargaining agreement (a “CBA”) between Housing Works and the RWDSU

Compensation Range: $17/hr - $22/hr commensurate with experience

Overview

The Receptionist greets residents and visitors, answers the telephone, and ensures that all guests and visitors are screened and logged in and out daily. The receptionist will complete Work Orders, order supplies, maintain an inventory log, and assist the program staff with data entry. The Receptionist ensures that medical, social, personal, and financial information relating to each client is kept confidential and made available only to authorized persons. As a member of the client care team, the Receptionist works cooperatively and effectively to meet program standards and excellent interpersonal skills, courtesy, diplomacy, and tact. Primary: Answer telephones, direct callers to the appropriate people, take messages, and welcome residents and visitors. Secondary: Order supplies and maintain an inventory log.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Work Orders.
  • Assist with data entry.
  • Sign residents, staff, and guests, in and out.
  • Sign for packages delivered to the site and ensure that they are received by staff.
  • Ensure the coffee room is stocked daily.
  • Distribute memos and flyers to residents.
  • Assist the program staff set up for recreational and social functions.
